Life is full of surprises by Mohd Ali Muhamad Don,

The Muslim world is shocked with the passing of Sheikh Mohammed Sayed Tantawi from a heart attack in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. His death is a great loss because of his huge contribution in spreading Islam and knowledge on the religion.

Muslims should be saddened by his demise and to offer him prayers as suggested by Johor Religious Adviser Datuk Nooh Gadot.

Muslims are also urged to practice the teachings brought by Prophet Muhamamd SAW as a way of life, especially in carrying the responsibilities as the caliph in the contest of an individual, society and leaders of the country.

Failure to do so can result in Islam to continue to be humiliated and the prophetic institution to be ridiculed. The latest, three newspapers in Sweden -- Dagens Nyheter, Expressen and Sydsvenska Dagbladet – published cartoons which belittled Prophet Muhammad SAW. The cartoons were drawn by Swede artist, Lars Vilks.

The insult was another shocker for Muslims who are still celebrating the birth of Prophet Muhammad SAW.
The action by the Malaysian Muslim Consumers Association in staging a demonstration in front of the Swedish Embassy and the proposed boycott on Swedish products are seen as effective in teaching them for the rude act. However, more important is how Muslims can translate the character and personality of Prophet Muhammad in their day to day life.

The act of marrying girls at the age of 10 and 11 is an example of misunderstanding among some Muslims in practicing the way of the Prophet.

The practice, if condoned, will create confusion and slander against Islam, It can also be regarded as sexual harassment.

Hence, Muslims are reminded not to be lost in fantasy while other races rise from their mistakes and build a civilization which is being respected by all.

For that too, fans of the “Raja Lawak” programme are advised not to be surprised with the Kecik group defeating other contestants like Alex and Idlan who were earlier predicted to be the winner.

This is because life is full of surprises, of happiness and bitterness. It is up to us to accept it with an open heart.

In fact, every surprises should make us realize that the life’s joy is all, but temporary.

Those who have fun and are carried away with various sins and vice activities should learn from every deaths that occurred, failing which, it could invite various social problems in the society. This can be seen with Muslim youngsters becoming rapists at a young age.

Imagine the shock and heart wrenching are the parents when their children who would one day become the family heads and examples for their younger siblings, are destroying their own life by being involved in the heinous act.

Don’t be surprise if one day, Allah SWT befell disaster on human beings for their insolent behavior.

Yesterday, a minor earthquake was reported at Kenyir Lake. The earthquake, measuring 2.6 on the Richter scale, with epicenter at 43 kilometre south west of Kuala Terengganu and 22 kilometre west of Kuala Berang,Terengganu.

Although in theory, only countries in the Pacific Ring of Fire are exposed to earthquake, like in Haiti, Chile and Taiwan recently.

Muslims are advised not to be careless and complacent in upholding the dignity of their race and sanctity of Islam. Don’t be surprised if the seven strength of the ummah as once mentioned by al-Syeikh Sayid Sabiq actually shows the weaknesses and carelessness of the Muslims today.

Whjat is there to be proud of if there still exist teachings which deviate from the true teachings of Islam.
Likewise, economic strength, which in reality is dominated by others.

Apart from that, morality, justice and harmony are disappearing with clashes and in-fighting among them.
Therefore, with the opportunity still available, soul-searching is advised for Muslims to prepare themselves for the hereafter.
